God is not fair

People are under the impression that God is fair.  Well I am here to tell you that just is not true.  If he were fair, we would all die due to sin and spend eternity in Hell.   However, God sent His son to die for our sins so that we have a chance at eternal life in Heaven versus spending it in Hell.

We have anthropomorphized God by treating Him as though He were human.  He is not, He is our Lord and  Creator and is therefore in complete control.

We also think that everything should be equal, but that too is not true.  There are many instances in the Bible where inequality exists.  Take the story of the talents where a master gave his servants talents equal to their abilities.  No where did God say that you all are the same and I will therefore give you all the same talents.  Also, God did not say to the one with 1 talent it is ok, to be fair you go ahead and keep that talent, no the master took the 1 talent and gave it to the one with 10.  Now that story is more than just about equality, but that is a story for another time.

God gives us gifts, but God does not say to be fair I will give each of you the same gifts so that no ones feelings will be hurt. In fact, the talents we have are not for our usage, but for God’s glory.  So God will choose what gifts He wants you to have and when.

God liked Abel’s sacrifice better than Cain’s.  He did not say Cain it is okay, I accept your sacrifice in the same way that accepted your brothers, but rather He rejected Cain’s offering.  Oh the inequality, how dare God reject Cain’s offering.

God has given you a choice, accept His son as your Lord and Savior or do not.  If you choose to accept Jesus Christ, then that means acknowledging and confessing your sins. It does not mean that you get to keep your sin and expect God to let you in Heaven.  Lets face it, have you fully embraced Christ and His love for you, then you would want to follow in His path and He was sinless.  Oh the unfairness of God expecting us to live a life without sin or at least attempting to.

I know that God may seem unfair, but lets look at this from another point of view. He treats all of us the same.  He loves each one of us unconditionally and we either decide to accept His son as our personal Lord and Savior or we will die and spend eternity in Hell.  In His eyes, sin is sin.  There is no shades of grey when it comes to sin.  Now with that said, does God expect us to be perfect?  Yes, but He also realizes that we are going to make mistakes along this path, but He has given us a way out.  It is up to us to decide which path we want to follow, but which ever path you choose, accept the responsibility for your actions and stop thinking that God is unfair.
