Abortion vs Suicide

I just want to make something clear up front. As a Christian, I do not agree with either abortion or suicide and think that both should not be allowed. This post is to show the hypocrisy in the thought process of our law makers.

The argument for abortion is that a woman has a right to her body and the Supreme Court agreed. In other words, she has the right to decide if a fetus which is an unborn baby will live or die. The flip side of that is, men do not have the right to their own bodies.

You may be wondering what am I talking about, well it is in the title. We as adults should either have the right to or we do not have the right to what happens with our own bodies.

If abortion is legal, then so should suicide. We make all these arguments about why suicide is bad, but the same arguments could be used against abortion. No matter when it happens, death causes sadness, depression, loneliness, anger, hate, bitterness, and a bunch of other negative emotions.

The reality is that insurance companies do not want to allow suicides because they would end up losing money for a period of time. However, is that a good enough reason to not allow adults to make their own decisions and if they are really worried about it, then put a get out of payment clause such as no insurance will be paid if officially documented as a suicide. The problem with this approach is that insurance companies will bride coroners to label everything as suicide because the they are very greedy.

As stated above, I do not agree with either and I encourage anyone that is pregnant and thinking of abortion or anyone who is thinking of suicide to talk to God first. Ask God for help. Ask Jesus for help. Jesus is the Wonderful or Great Counselor. Talk to them, they will listen and if you open yourself to hearing what they have to say, then who knows. If you go have an abortion, there is a good chance you will come out worse than when you went in and if you commit suicide, then you definitely will come out worse.

People often say, I talked to God, but He did not respond. The problem was you talked to God and expected God to answer you when and how you wanted to be answered. We crowd our brains with so much that often we miss what He is saying and when He does not answer how we think he should, we dismiss Him altogether.

God may answer with a gentle breeze across your face, a bird flying in a window, the warmth from the sun, but is it usually very subtle. Of course He could come in roaring like a tiger or bear. He could also give you a crack of thunder, an earthquake, or any other really big sign, but that is not who I think He is. He wants to give you something that will spark a memory of happier times. Also, if God came in all loud and boisterous, wouldn’t that really defeat the purpose of us wanting to choose Him versus almost being forced to choose Him?

I pray that if you are going through these difficult times, that God will send someone into your life that will at least make you think before you commit to something that is irreversible.
