I find it kind of funny that people who are against violence will themselves act violent when the situation arises.
The state in which I live the current Governor appears to not only be against violence, but he appears to be against civilians having guns. So I am left to ask myself why is he against guns? He is trying to pass a ban on open carry, which I do not understand. He was trying to pass a law that would prevent concealed carry owners from having their weapons at their side in their cars. This man has no clue what the real world is like. Criminals do not and never will care about what law you put into place. They are going to do what they want to do so the only person the laws put into harms way are those who abide by the law. The only reason any government official is against civilians from having guns is because they know that as long as “We The People” have the ability to defend ourselves that we can prevent a tyrannical government.
Back to violence and the Governor. It was not long ago that a young woman was killed by a man with a gun in which the man appears to have been mentally unstable. The father of this woman has gone on a campaign to increase gun control measures both in this state and nationwide. As I heard on “The Walking Dead”, ‘All Life is Precious’; however, you will not prevent such killings from happening. The woman who was killed was targeted and I told my wife as soon as I saw the video that it looked like a hit, but I got a bit off track. The father was in a heated argument with a state senator and threatened the senator not once but twice and the second time being with physical harm. The Senator reported the incident, but was told by the Governor to man up. So the next time you are in a fight anywhere just tell the Governor or whomever is in charge that you were trying to man up. It is what our leaders of this state think you should do.
What this means to me is that the Governor is against violence as long as everyone agrees with him, but as soon as someone disagrees watch out because violence is then considered an acceptable response. The father of the slain woman should have been arrested and charged with a crime of trying to cause harm to an elected official.
Now you saw the statement where gun control will not work. People want to keep guns out of the hands of those people who are considered mentally unstable. Well that would be everyone of us at some point in time. Who would determine that the person is not mentally stable enough to own a gun? A Psychologist or Psychiatrist? There is nothing funny going on with that now is there?
So that means no one including the military or the police would be allowed to have guns, but that would not stop the criminals. Because we all know that as soon as a law is passed that the criminals just turn over their weapons and say due to law such and such I am not allowed to have this weapon. That is what the extreme Liberals think or at least what I am thinking they are thinking because outside of taking control of the government (conspiracy theory), what else is there.
What does the bible say about violence?
Matthew 5:21-22 New International Version (NIV)
Murder
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
If people would learn to love one another as the bible describes love:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
While it is a simple concept the implementation is not as simple for if we loved each other this way then there would never be a murder. The reality is that most people are selfish and will do what bests suits them:
Romans 8:5-8 New International Version (NIV)
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
I pray that you find comfort in knowing that you can become nonviolent and love as God wants you to love, but you have to seek it.
