Mad at People

I have a tendency these days to be very impatient with people.  The other day on the way home, a car was in the left lane and the left lane was ending.  Instead of going on so we could all get by the 18-wheeler, this person decides to slam their brakes on.  We were all going roughly 75 to 80 miles per hour. This caused myself and everyone behind me to slam their brakes on.  We were almost in about a 15+ car accident.

Thankfully, the Lord was with us this day.  The 18-wheeler go over and all of us were able to merge into the lane without incident, but I proceeded to give this guy the one finger wave.

Later on down the road we were all going about 75 to 80 mph and this Range Rover behind me starts flashing his headlights.  There is a 18-wheeler ahead of all of us.  Therefore, we can only go as fast as the vehicle ahead,  I proceeded to give this person the 1 finger wave as well.

Now some of you may be going great they deserved it, but did you stop to think is that what God wanted?  I know I did not in that moment of anger.  So is this considered sin?

That is a difficult question to answer.  If God truly wants you to flip-off your fellow neighbor, then it is not sin.  Remember, that sin is going against God’s will.  So I really doubt that God wants you to give people the 1 finger wave.

Also remember, that God is love and expects us to demonstrate love towards everyone, even those that we think do not deserve love.  God also expects us to forgive people as He forgave us.  Giving a person the 1 finger wave is not really forgiving them and could be considered sinning in your anger.

Some may think, great you expect me to be perfect.  I am not sure perfection is what is expected as much as you try your best to do God’s will.  Will you fail, yes.  There are times when stuff just happens, but it is how you handle yourself afterwards that makes all the difference.  We all need to admit when we have sinned and try your best to never commit that sin again.

So, although I was angry and in the moment it may have seemed like the right course of action, it was not.  God forgive me for what I did.  I know the way I acted on the road was wrong.  Please help me to realize this in the future before I sin.
