Starbucks Red Cup

I am amazed at so called Christians and how they so upset over a red cup.  Is this really Christian behavior?  Is this what Christ did go around and condemn the businesses?  I found this on youtube

I agree with everything that is said.  People do feel entitled these days, but I am boycotting Starbucks and not because of a Red Cup.  Frankly I could careless what color the cup is and whether or not it has any designs on it.  This does not define Christmas and sure as heck does not define Christ.

So why am I boycotting Starbucks.  My reasons are a few:

  1. I feel they are passing out lies and convincing the people and the government to act upon those lies.  Starbucks seems to believe that same sex marriage is acceptable and wants the laws of the nations changed to meet what they think the laws should be. At least that is how I understood the information I have been reading, but granted it could come from an unreliable source.  When a business can interfere with the laws that are supposed to be for the people, it is time for that business to go.  However, I am torn by this because if Starbucks does go out of business then a lot of people would also be without a job.  So I am boycotting them, but I never tell others to do so.
  2. I think there stuff is just crap.  I do not drink coffee as I cannot stand the taste of the stuff, but I have had their hot chocolate and some of their food and I found it to be some of the most awful tasting stuff.
  3. They are just way over priced for the goods and services they provide and I think that the money I make can be put to a much better than use than spending it on stuff from Starbucks.

Jesus loved people and commanded us to do the same.

Mark 12:31 New International Version (NIV)

31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Luke 6:27-36 New International Version (NIV)

Love for Enemies

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Now Jesus did not specifically mention businesses, but remember they are being operated by people. So remember this

Ephesians 6:12 New International Version (NIV)

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

In other words Satan and his minions are our enemies, so fight them instead. You make your decision to boycott Starbucks or not, but do so for the right reason.  Not because someone who is offended by the color of the cup and the lack of Christmas/Winter images.

I pray that you will make the right decision and see/hear the truth.
