Voices

Almost all of us hear voices of some kind.  It could be that little internal voice telling you to run or it could be telling you that what you are doing is wrong or it could be an alarm going off in your head.

The problem is that most of us ignore those voices when it is trying to protect us, but we jump head in when we think it might lead to fun.  Take drinking as an example.  We will readily jump in and drink alcohol to fit in knowing that we should not.  Another example is sex, people will engage in pre-marital sex knowing that it can lead to all kinds of complications such as pregnancy or STDs, but that does not stop them from doing it.  In both of these cases, there is a little voice going off telling us it is wrong, but we ignore it.  This is typically Satan or his minions whispering in our ears that it is ok to do what we are doing.

Now God will also talk to us.  He is trying to tell us not to do something because it will lead us down a path that we may not recover from.   Listening to the wrong voices can also lead to pride, doubts, fear, and even depression.  God does not want this for you because He loves you.  In fact, if you listen to Him it will set you free.

John 8:31-32 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Truth Will Set You Free

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Remember we are sheep and Christ is the shepherd.  As sheep, we get lost from time to time, but the Christ will call us, but so will Satan or one of his minions.  The problem is which one are you listening too?

Who will you listen too God or Satan?  The choice is yours , but remember there are consequences for your actions.
