Lasting Change

You have chosen to change, you have changed your thinking, and you realize that change takes time, but now you need it too last. So how is that done?

We need to:

  1. Focus on the Lord.
  2. Learn what Christ taught and start practicing it.
  3. Learn what God’s purpose is for you.
  4. Realize that we all need to serve others.
  5. Read the Bible for understanding.
  6. Learn that the flesh will lead you astray.
  7. Learn that the world is designed to lead you away from God.
  8. Repent of your sins.
  9. Pray regularly,
  10. Seek help from other Christians because a chord of three strands is not easily broken
  11. Practice what you know is right
  12. Avoid the temptations in your life
  13. Learn to substitute good habits for bad ones.
  14. Take it one day at a time
  15. Above all else, learn to be patient.

That is it, 15 simple things to do.  If it were so simple, we would all be doing this, but let’s face reality.  All of us have flaws and something in that list is holding us back from making the changes last.

Take the News Year Eve resolutions we all make.  They last for a month or so and we have great expectations that we can do them, but in the end, almost all of them fail.

It really comes down to this, if you want to change, you will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal.  If that means getting rid of cable or the internet or ?????, you will.  If you do not want to change, you will not.  Now not all changes can be accomplished on our own, but instead, we will need the help of the Lord.  However, you will get the Lord involved if you really want that change.

There are no excuses.  Do or do not.  Those are your only two choices.
