Sinning

Why do we sin?  Well the obvious answer is that Satan and one of his minions whispers something too us and we believe it or we see something that our flesh wants/desires and is contrary to God, but we go with our flesh when we know we should not.

Is it that simple?  Yes and no.

From the time we are born, we are exposed to a lot of different things.  Our parents say or do something that goes against God.  Our friends live a certain way and get things we do not and we do not understand.  Our leaders besides our parents say things that also go against God.  Then we have Satan who is pushing his own agenda and once you are thoroughly confused, he attacks.

Then we have the other side who may be a pastor or a person who has spiritual influence that worships God whom you cannot see and tries to act like a man (God in flesh form) that many claim either did not exist or was just a man. Then there is this book called the Bible while it is the God’s word, it was written by man.  To many this book appears as a list of what you can and cannot do and the cannot list appears a lot less fun..

Is it any wonder why everything is confusing and we sin?  Not really.

This is where free will and faith come in.  It requires faith to believe something you cannot see/touch.  Free will comes in because you can choose to continue down the path you know is against God’s will or you can choose to listen too and follow God’s word.

This does not mean you live a perfect life, but it does mean that when you do something you know is sin, that you acknowledge that sin and repent.  Repenting is not easy or everyone who sins would just simply turn and walk away from it.  Some can do it very easily, but others like myself have a very difficult time.

If you really want to change, then it starts with your acknowledging that what you are doing is going against God.  Next you ask God for forgiveness.  Then you ask God for help to keep you off that path which caused you to sin to begin with. Again, do not fret if you stumble.

Remember this that God still loves you.  This does not mean He is happy with your decisions and He will do what He can to guide you down the correct path.  The question then becomes are you looking for God is presenting and listening to Him talk to you?
