Headlights

I am amazed that people do not want to use their headlights when it is dark. There are two reasons to use them:

1. So you can see.
2. Just as important if not more so, so others can see you.

If it is dark outside, then without your headlights on, it becomes increasingly more difficult for someone to see you which can lead to accidents. So turn on your lights.

This is similar to being a light of the world. :

Matthew 5:14-16 New International Version (NIV)

¹⁴ “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵ Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We who call ourselves Christian actually represent Christ. We need to be a shining light so people who do not know Christ can see who He really is through us. We need to put aside all of the darkness that is inside us and shine.

I know what I am asking for is tough. The world has made us dark and does not like it when people shine. In fact, it goes out of the way to make sure people do not shine.

So you have a choice, follow what the world wants or follow what God wants. Again, that is not an easy choice. It is a simple choice, but not easy.

¹⁹ If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

All I can say is pray. I know that is my typical response, but there is a reason for that, we are instructed to pray about all things. So pray already. Go spend time with God.
