Lets clear one thing up, getting angry is not a sin, but it can lead to a sinful nature. So what does it mean when God said love is not easily angered? When we love others, we are able to tolerate those things that others do that irritate us. In other words, we do not blowup at the littlest things, but rather we keep calm and are patient.
But before we go any further, what does anger mean? According to Cambridge online dictionary, it means a feeling people get when something unfair, painful, or bad happens. Another way to look at it, it is a strong feeling that makes you want to hurt someone or be unpleasant because of something unfair or unkind that has happened.
Lets rephrase the original text: Love is not easily a strong feeling to make us want to hurt others or be unpleasant to them because of something unfair or unkind that has happened.
Think of it this way, it took God a long time to want to wipe man off the face of the Earth with a flood, but even then He decided not to do it. God says that He is jealous, but He does not let His anger get the better of Him otherwise He would have destroyed Israel permanently. Instead, He loved us so much that He sent His son to die for our sins.
Do you suffer from anger issues? Do you blow up at the littlest things? What pushes your buttons? If yes, then I really urge you to seek counseling and not the typical secular type, but one that specializes in the mind, body, and spirit. Also, I highly urge you to pray and ask God for help.
