Traditions

Traditions are good, they give us roots, and they give us a sense of being connected and wanted. They also remind us of where we came from and give us something to pass down to others.

Traditions can also be bad when we think we must do them because it was something we were taught. The Jews did this and they forgot God. Instead of following God and obeying Him, they followed traditions that were passed down from one generation to the next with each generation slightly changing the tradition until it no longer resembled the original information that was given to them by God.

Keep in mind why you are using and holding on to these traditions. Is it simply for ritual sake because it is what you have been taught or is it so you do not forget the lessons. They are not the same. Also, traditions will evolve, but will it do so in a good way or bad?

Do you study the Bible? If so why? Are you studying the Bible because it is tradition or because you really want to learn about God and follow His will? This is just an example of a tradition.
