Do you hold bitterness in your heart? Do you even know what bitterness means?
Bitterness in this context means anger and disappointment at being treated unfairly or resentment. This contains both anger and hate which has occurred because of some past event.
I know I have bitterness towards women. It is not towards all women, but those that feel they are better then men, are owed something because of what a man has done, or want to blame men for everything.
Please do not get me wrong, no man should ever harm or try to dominate a woman because they think they can or they think that is their role. It is not.
Ephesians 5:25-33 New International Version (NIV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Now you may say this applies only to husband and wives. I will disagree slightly. Yes parts of it are directly related to a relationship between a husband and wife, but in reality we all should love each other according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
I am confessing that I have bitterness believing that God will help me to overcome this in His own time.
Are you bitter towards something or someone? Why? What are you going to do about it? Do you want it gone from your life? Admit that you have bitterness and take it to God and leave it there. I know that sounds super easy, but it is difficult to implement. You will need God’s help, I know I do.
