I actually like the concept of this TV show, but I do think there is one fatal flaw. Once the trainers get to a certain weight, they then proceed to start to lose it. To make it even more effective, these trainers should have to maintain that weight for at least 6+ months.
Not exercising for 4 months is one thing, but these trainers still have an underlying structure that allows them to lose the weight much easier that those who have been overweight for a significant period of time.
It is my opinion that the body adapts to the environment in which it is in. Therefore, if the body is fat and maintains that fatness for a period of time, it will adapt to that way. This makes losing weight for a person who has been overweight for a long period of time more difficult than a person that put it on then immediately took it off. As such these people need to lose weight and allow their body to adapt to the new weight and fat level. This I believe will be more sustaining than losing 20 pounds in a week.
I believe that every type of weight management program that is out there will work, but people do not stay on it long enough to actually find out. The are also unwilling to change their ways. They want to say they are trying to lose weight, but the reality is they sneak this or that and then want to blame the program when it does not work. They say they are exercising, but the reality is they are not doing as much as they are asked to do and they will give up more easily because it is just too hard or they are sweating way too much and do not like that feeling.
When people are serious about wanting to be thinner, healthier, more muscular, you name it, they will do whatever it take to achieve that goal. Until that time, they are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions and actually will put the blame on someone else or some other program.
Galatians 6:5-18 New International Version (NIV)
5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
I pray that you mature enough to take responsibility for your actions. Make a decision, either lose the weight or do not, but do not blame everyone and everything around you. If you do not want to lose weight, then speak up because anything else is a lie. If you do want to lose weight, then decide and stick with it. If you truly tried everything that the trainer or nutritionist or doctor etc programmed for you and it does not work, then you can honestly say it did not work for you, but anything else is a lie. I pray that you come to realize that by not taking responsibility for your actions and blaming it on others is actually a lie. In Jesus name I pray for this for you, Amen
