I know that slavery supposedly went away with the Civil War, but did it really? In today’s world, slavery looks different.
Did you realize that everyone that works is a slave to both the Federal government and to the poor. If you are asking what do you mean, I am free. Are you really? I find this funny, because the Federal government is supposed to be working for us. However, they have most of the Americans convinced that they are required to work for them. Even the poor are slaves to something and that may be depending on the government for food etc.
Can you do as you wish or are you required to work because of the house and car payments? If you did not work, but really could, would you get money from the government or would they simply say go get a job? Who would help if you did not work but were able?
If you are still protesting that you are not a slave, then what freedom do you really have? Are you addicted to alcohol or drugs? Do you work so you can make more to spend more that is outside your means of living? Do you love money? Do you have to have the newest technology? If you can answer yes to anything, then you are a slave.
No my solution is not to stop working. I believe you should work, but not because the government requires this, but because the Lord has told us that for 6 days we are to work as He did and on the seventh we are to relax. I just want you to realize that you are a slave to something.
I was in Sears the other day with my wife and noticed that there was a very large line outside of the store the “FinishLine”. I was wondering what was going on, were they going out of business or what. Someone told my wife that there was a new Jordan tennis shoe that had just come out. I told her, you have to be kidding me. People are waiting in line to get this new shoe. WOW!
So I started thinking about this in context of would God really want use to be behaving like this? I doubt it unless it could be used for His glory. Then I started to think it is not just with this shoe, but with a lot of things. People are obsessed with having the newest, biggest, greatest, add what every adjective you want here, next thing.
There are things I like and would like to have right now, but they will wait since there are really more important things to do with the money and time I have been so richly blessed to have. How about helping someone with gas because they cannot fill up their vehicle or providing someone a ride to another location or helping someone get food because they cannot afford it or just listening because a person needs to talk. There are many things that you too could do if you would just take the time to think of another instead of yourself.
There is only one that does not require us to be a slave and that is God. Through Christ He has set us free. God does not require you to be obedient to Him nor to serve Him in any way. God gave us Free-Will so we can choose to either be with Him and serve Him because we want to, or we can take a completely different path. The choice is yours and always will be.
I pray that you ask God to open your eyes to the truth. The truth is one of the weapons God has provided to fight the real enemy who has made the lies seem like the truth. I pray that you seek a relationship with God. I also pray that you seek a relationship with Christ and come to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
