Have you ever seen some of the products recently? They are so complicated and have so much on them that there is something bound to go wrong.
There use to be a idea that was called K.I.S.S. It stood for Keep It Simple Stupid. I realize that potentially calling someone stupid is not ideal, but it got the message across.
For some reason though, people like the complicated things. Take my wife, she loves to have her ice maker and water come from the refrigerator. I personally can do without those features and am just waiting for them to break. I do not understand why ice cannot be made the old fashion way and water taken from the faucet, but apparently it cannot be.
This idea makes me think of Jesus and His commands to us. There are two, yep that is it just two. The only way it could get any easier is to have only one and frankly I think if you kept the first, then the second would be super easy. So lets say for simplicity, there really is only one command.
The first is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. How much easier could it get than to do those two simple commandments. The answer is it must be freaking impossible for a lot of us.
We may say we love God, but do we really show love towards our neighbors? As I have stated in other posts, your neighbor does not literally mean those that live around you. It is the person you meet int he supermarket for all of 1 second, it is a co-worker that you do not hang out with, or it is that person that you may wave at but really do not know. Of course your neighbor is also those you are more involved with. In other words, your neighbor is anyone that you come across.
So if you do not show love towards your neighbors, are you really loving the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul? I am sorry, but I would have to say the answer is no.
So the next time you are acting like a butt towards someone, whether you know them or not, think to yourself am I really loving God. I say this because remember, the Lord loves each of us and sent His Son to die for us so that we, who are undeserving, may have eternal life in Heaven.
I pray that you are able to recognize if you are truly loving your neighbor as yourself and if you are not, then the Lord will open your heart so you can recognize that you are not.
