Family

There is only one thing that is more important to me than family and that is the Lord.  God created us to have and care for our families.  It started with Adam and Eve when God told them to go forth and multiply, but also with Cain and Abel in that we are to care for one another.

Even the ten commandments had two items regarding the family.  One is to honor your father and mother and the other deals with adultery.  To honor our parents is to recognize their authority regarding family matters and not committing adultery is to protect the sanctity of marriage.

You may be thinking, that is great, but both references are in the Old Testament, so what about the New Testament.  Even the New Testament makes similar reference to honoring your father and mother and committing adultery.  Jesus told people that when man and woman get married, they are no longer two, but one flesh.  This union is from God and to get a divorce for any other reason other then sexual immorality is committing adultery.  Similarly, Paul commanded children to obey their parents, but he also commanded parent to not provoke their children.

When we are born, we are born into an earthly human family.  However, when we are born again, we are born into a spiritual family or in other words we are adopted into Gods family.

If you are struggling with family concepts, then take some time and read the Bible regarding the family.  There are many verses that may help you to realize that family both earthly and spiritually is very important.  I also urge you to pray and ask God for help.

If you have not noticed, a lot of my advice is to pray.  Why?  No person on this earth can do what God can do.  By praying, you are basically telling God that you need help and that you are relying upon Him.  As part of Gods family and being His children, that does not mean that when you pray He will immediately give you an answer or an answer you even like.
