Purchases

I am not sure about you all, but I feel like the stuff purchased today is in every way shape and form inferior to the stuff made 10+ years ago. My wife and I just recently purchased a Love Seat and Sofa and I have to say that I am not happy with the purchases.

The Sofa already has some threads ripped, the cushions are constantly coming off of both with us just sitting and watching TV, and the cushions feel flat.  We have only had these two items a whopping 3 days. So what is up with the crappy products?

Our society wants everything cheap and quick.  I feel like the Sofa and Love Seat were cheaply built with the expectation you would replace them in a year or two.  I can say that after this purchase and another we made from the same local furniture store, I will not be going back.  They were great to deal with and took the first purchase back and I am sure they will take this one back as well, but how many times should I go back and give them a chance?

The ultimate purchase was made by Christ and I am so thankful that He did and did not change His mind.  I am so thankful that He did not try to return the purchase and make me pay for it all.  The only purchase I must make is:

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Christ also told us what we must do:

Matthew 28:16-20 New International Version (NIV)

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 22t:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

There are a lot of other things in the New Testament that Christ preached and taught, but everything hangs on these.  Seems so simple, but yet so few are able to do it.  With the New Year, what will you do?  Will you invest in what Christ commanded or will you continue to invest in your own Earthly Human desires?
