Be Still and Wait for God

You who are praying to God, how often are you being still and waiting for a response?  I would venture to say that you are not.  Lets face it, we have a fast paced life and if we are being still, most of us feel like we are wasting precious time.  However, the reality is God has told us to be still.

Psalm 37:7 New International Version (NIV)

Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalm 46:10 New International Version (NIV)

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

I too am in such a hurry to get things done and do not wait for God.  I can only imagine that He is screaming my name, but because I am so focused on getting things done, I do not hear Him.  However, this is the wrong approach.

I have heard people say that when they slow down and wait for God that they are actually able to get more done and faster.  Seems contradictory to stop and wait, but remember that God can accomplish anything and everything.  So if I rely upon Him to help and guide me, then everything will get done according to His schedule and not mine and since He is never wrong, that is the better approach to take.

God will let you do things on your own, but most of the time those end up in failures.  So I suggest that instead of being in a rush, Be still, and wait for God.  You too might be surprised at what you can accomplish.  I know that this is the approach I am going to attempt to take.  I say attempt, because most of the time I seem to fail, but with Gods help it will all be good.
