I watched a series of movies called Rampage. It was interesting. You could tell the producer and the script writer were far left wing, but most thought they were far right. They talked about gun control, getting rid of the rich, getting rid of politicians, resetting America so that everyone is equal, etc.
What the movie should have promoted instead was love, but lets face it, who is going to watch a movie that is all about love, peace, harmony? No one. Most people are either into action, or drama, or science fiction/fantasy, or romance with a twist, or horror, or comedy, or some combination there of.
So why did I watch this movie, well I was curious based on the description. Was it a great movie? Not really, but it was ok. My concern is over the message that is portrays.
When the only answer to a solution it to kill another, you really have to wonder. The main character when on a killing rampage and he basically killed anyone who he thought was contributing to the downfall of our society and asked for others to follow in his footsteps and they did just that. Pretty morbid, right?
Ephesians 6:12-13 New International Version (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
We need to remember that our issue is not with other people. However, lets face it, we are going to go after the most tangible thing and that is people. Now I did not say we do not hold people accountable, we should.
Romans 14:10-15New International Version (NIV)
10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.
How did the main character in these movies get this way? He was easily influenced by those around him that saw how society was working, but would not do anything about it. This is just like Satan whispering in your ear to do something that you know is wrong, but you do it anyway. We all have our moments and it is those times that Satan is preying upon and it is at those times that we do what Satan wants. We all need to resist Satan, but I know that is easier said than done.
James 4:7 New International Version (NIV)
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
You have a choice, you can choose to reject God and accept what Satan is telling you is the truth or you can choose to accept God and reject Satan. What will you do?
