Obsession

I will bet that almost every person on the planet has some kind of obsession.  Mine use to be games, then it was tools, then guns and the accessories. Right now I do think I have one, but I am a poor judge of my own life.

My wife has one for the news and the weather.  She constantly tells me that she does not, but during hurricane Irma, she was watching the weather almost every chance she could. She says it was because of her family, but lets face it, what can she or anyone do about the weather?  Absolutely nothing.   No one can control the weather.  She wanted to watch it because she was obsessed.  I am sure that she has some others, but I honestly cannot think of one.  That is not true, but that is for another day.

Now take a new Christian, they become obsessed and want everyone to experience what they are, but the rest of the world does not and they cannot understand why.  What generally happens is that they soon become discouraged and wonder if Christianity is right for them. As a result, they either leave Christianity or they become so demoralized that they never accomplish what God has set for them.

Lets face it, we all should be excited and jumping up and down for joy about Christ.  God sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we may have a eternal life with both God and Christ.  We must accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and do what He has commanded us to do.  However, so many of us reject Christ and God because we are afraid of what our neighbors, friends, and family will think.  In other words, we are obsessed about appearances.

Have you ever met that person who did not really care what the world thought, but only cared about what God thought?  This person will appear at times to be offensive to others, but they really are not.  This person may seem insensitive towards others, but they are not meaning to be.  They love God with everything they have and because of this, it may come off as they do not care about those around them.   In reality, they just want you to love God as much as they do.

Ask yourself if you are obsessed?  I bet you will say no you are not, but take a long hard look at your life and what really matters.

What matters to  you more, what your family, friends, neighbors, or others think, or what God thinks?  This is crucial to understanding where you are in your Christian life and your relationship with God and Christ.

I pray that you will start a relationship with both God and Christ today.
