Stuff

I do not know about you, but we have way too much stuff.  Every year for the past 4 years we have gone through our clothes and other material items and given away about $5,000 to Goodwill each year.  Considering what I marked the items at, using a pricing guideline, it is no where close to what was paid, wow that is a lot of junk and we have a lot more.

I am sure that you too may have a lot of stuff lying around your house or in a storage facility.  You may be thinking that some day you will use those items or you will give them to a family member and that is why you keep them.  Let me ask you one question, are you really ever going to use them or give them to others? I highly doubt it, but that is just a guess.

We as Americans are notorious for buying stuff that we rarely use and then keeping it because we might use it one day or we buy duplicates because we have misplaced them or we promise ourselves that we will lose weight and those clothes will fit some day or we buy stuff because we are slightly obsessed with either the buying or acquisition of items.

My House is a mess.  I have been planning on doing the basement for almost 10 years. I have had multiple design changes, but I finally decided on one and am close to being done.  My goal is that once the basement is done the rest of the house will quickly fall into order.  I am just praying that we can get rid of a lot of stuff that we never use.

While I like my hobbies, my goal is to become a minimalist as much as possible. I am not sure God would approve of how the money He has given me has been spent, but hey we have to live and learn from our mistakes.

I pray that if you are one of those that hoards or buys stuff just because, that you will seek guidance from God.  Ask Him for help, He will answer, but in His time.  Just be prepared to listen.
