When I was growing up, yield meant for me to slow down and proceed with caution and try to match the speed of the on coming traffic, but stop is necessary. Today it means speed up and flip people off if they do not let you in.
My son was traveling on a highway where he had the right of way. A lady was trying to merge and told him that he was supposed to yield because the sign on the entrance ramp meant for him to yield not her. Then she proceeded to flip him off and say a few other things. All I can say is wow! How stupid are people these days?
God expects us to yield to the world. We need to slow down and proceed with caution and stop if necessary when dealing with worldly issues. It does not mean speed up and ignore the rules of the road. It does not mean hate your fellow man.
We also need to yield to Him. It is a different kind of yield. We need to give way to His demands. Somehow we think that when we yield to God, we are giving up our life. Instead of giving up our life, we are actually getting a more abundant life, but somehow we are blind to this.
Now you can continue down the path you are heading which will lead to destruction or you can yield to God which will lead to eternal life. Which path will you choose? Will you open your eyes to see the truth and ears to hear the truth or will you be blind and deaf as most are.
