Shining Light

My daughter preached this weekend about being a light.  She equated it to fire, not in a bad way, but in a way it is needed.

Fire was the earliest form of light that was used for protection, cooking, and lighting things up at night.  To make a fire, there are three things that are needed: Spark, Fuel, and Oxygen.

Spark was equated to salvation while fuel and oxygen were equated to God.  If I understood her sermon, she was making the connection that we need a relationship with God.

The fuel in this case is the word of God and doing His will.  While, the oxygen is His spirit.

We all have a light, but it is a matter of how bright it is.  For most of us, the light is dim.  We acknowledge God, but we may reject His son or we have a one sided relationship with God or we let life get in the way or we are rebelling or ________.

Your light may be bright, but it is the wrong kind of light because you are feeding it with the wrong fuel or the wrong type of air.  It is very easy because of our flesh, the world, and the devil to feed it with the wrong fuel or air. However, we need to feed our light with the fuel or air that comes from Christ.

Have you evaluated your light and where the fuel or air is/are coming from?

For some of us, it will be a sobering experience that we will not like and most likely try to hide.
