We live in an era where we expect everything now and have very little patience for when something takes some time. Take websites as an example. Back in the 90’s, websites were a little slower because our speeds were slower but as we got faster and faster internet speeds, websites were loading almost instantaneously. Now if a website takes 10 seconds to load we are frustrated and ready to leave.
Remember this one thing, God does respond to our time, but His.
John 11:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days,
When we want to change, we expect God to instantly change us, but that is not how it works. All things that are worth having take time. Think about nature, there is no tree that grows instantly. Even food takes some time to grow.
It takes 9 months for a baby to be born. It takes roughly 18 to 20 years for a child to become somewhat sufficient and independent and during that period of time, the child is hopefully learning. I am sure some of you want your child(ren) to learn instantaneously, but think back to when you were growing up, did you?
When God does not immediately change us or answer our prayers, we instantly have doubt that He is listening or He is even there. This leads us to frustration and disappointment. However, God is omnipotent and therefore knows what will happen if we are instantly changed. Most of the time instant gratification leads us on a path of destruction.
We need to learn to slow down and accept God’s timing. It is perfect timing. God has a plan for your life, but it is not always immediately known to us.
The question is are you willing to wait? God gave you a choice. He wants you to slow down and be patient on Him, not demand that He responds to your every whim when you decide you want Him.
Remember this one thing, Change Takes Time. If you can do that, I am sure some of the frustration will start to go away. Learn to accept God’s time.
