The Race

So many of us treat life as though it is a race.  We go as fast and as hard as we can to get that high paying job, to have a family, a house, a car, and many other materialistic items.

This is all to get to the supposed finish line, but what is the finish line?  Is it social status, wealth, family, possessions, or a relationship with God through Christ?

The problem with the race mentality is that we often leave others behind.  The Christian race is not about running it by ourselves, but rather it is about running it with others.

I remember a story where a group of kids was running in a Special Olympics race.  One kid fell and some of them stopped to help him up and they all ran the race together.  This is exactly what a Christian race is.

We all need to learn to stop and pick each other up to run the race together.  We all have problems and we cannot forget that.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 New International Version (NIV)

12 Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Going at this alone will lead you down the wrong path.

Matthew 7:13-14 New International Version (NIV)

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The choice is yours.  Will you run the race alone or will you go with others?  If you decide to run this race alone, I pray that you are successful, but the chances are you will fail.  So instead, I suggest that you pray to God and ask for help.
