My house is cluttered with stuff. It is my fault due to my hobbies. My parents house isn’t cluttered, it is a disaster.
My mom complained about her old house not looking like it once did, but she has stuff everywhere. The original house was about 3000 sqft and they moved to a home across the street from my sister that has about a 2000 sqft. Part of the move was to get rid of stuff that she does not need or use .
She was supposed to go through all the stuff and make a decision before she brought it up to the new house. She did not and just started moving all the bags. One room in the new house which was about 200 sqft was nothing but bags with a small path to get from the door to the kitchen.
My mom is a shopaholic. In the old house there were piles and piles of clothes in their original packaging. In some rooms you could not walk because clothes were stacked from floor to ceiling or they were just thrown everywhere and on top of everything. In other rooms there were small paths to get to a bed with boxes from floor to ceiling. Then there was buying all the outdated stuff from Ollie’s and just leaving it everywhere for pests to get a hold of.
My dad is not much better. He is a pack rat. He has papers from 1970 when he was doing taxes. He keeps just about everything he has ever owned unless he absolutely does not like it.
I am no better. I have about 15 hobbies and when I start a hobby, I want to master it and I buy everything I need. Sometimes I will buy multiples of things because I am not sure if the one I am going to order will work the way I want or not. Even when I play mmorpgs, I create every single character I can to have every skill possible to be self-sufficient.
There is something spiritual going on in our family that makes us want to buy and buy and keep everything. My entire family suffers from gluttony. My guess is it is some kind of generational curse that needs to be broken.
Pray that I can fully surrender to God as this is the first step. Next confess the generational curse that is causing you to sin, then Forgive others including yourself. Follow this with severing ungodly soul ties, then go into warfare prayer to break the curse line. Next go through deliverance, but make sure you are saved. Finally, be careful of those things that God says are ungodly. I hope that made sense.
