We all have different perspectives on things. So what does that really mean? Perspective has many meanings, but for this blog I am referring to way we see things.
Take a person who has been abused their entire life. When something happens such as parents yelling or two people arguing or anything that could potentially be seen as abusive behavior, then the person who has been abused whether they are involved or not will see the aggressor as being abusive.
Take me, I am a white male. I’ve been rejected from multiple full time positions simply because I am not the right gender or race. Is that true for every situation, the answer is no, but from my perspective any time I am denied a position and there were females who applied and got the job, then it is true. Those females could have been better qualified, I do not know, but to me I was rejected again because I am white and male.
I have no problem with the BLM groups protesting. In fact they should protest if they truly believe they are the target of some conspiracy, but they do not have the right to riot and loot. From their perspective, they are being singled out by the police and their lives are being taken for no reason. While that is not true today for most situations, it was true at one time. So they are going based on how it was and not looking at why it is happening today.
Now lets look at the polices perspective. When they are approaching someone and asking them to calm down or if they are okay, they are being non-confrontational. They are trying to help that person. Then something happens and to them it may appear as though they are being attacked or what have you. The police have a fraction of a second to decide on what to do. In some instances no harm comes to the supposed attacker, other times the supposed attacker is subdued, and other times the supposed attacker is killed. Any of the situations can happen to any police officer at any point in time.
Not lets try to look at how Christ perceives us. I believe He sees us as lost sheep who know the right thing to do, but for some reason cannot seem to do it. We are constantly getting our head stuck in the fence or wondering off from the herd to be vulnerable to attack by the wolves or we are just lost or we just walk in circles with no clue where to go or we only see one path and that path leads us to destruction or we follow the other sheepeople right into destruction.
Now if you were Christ, would you think we are worth saving? I would bet the answer would be no for most of us, but Christ said yes. He loved us so much that He sacrificed His life for each of our sins so we have a chance at Salvation.
I say chance because it is there all you need to do is accept it and saying I want to be saved is not enough. It is a great place to start, but now go read the Bible to find out how to be saved.
Now this next part is applicable to each and everyone of us. We all need to be able to see how the other side perceives the situation. If we do that one simple thing, then maybe, just maybe they can be saved. I am not saying you have to agree with them, but it will help you better to understand who they are and how you might be able to introduce them to Christ.
