Slow Down

On the way to the store today, a person decided to turn in front on me causing me to slam the breaks on which then in turn caused all the food I had from the restaurant to fly everywhere.  Thankfully, none of it spilled and I was thankful to the Lord for this, but why did it have to happen in the first place.  On top of that, they were getting ready to turn into oncoming traffic, that is they were turning on the wrong side of the road.

Could it be spiritual, sure, but I do not believe that is the case for most of these.   Most of these are discipline issues and we all know that disciplining someone these days is wrong.  That is one of the reasons we have the problems in this country that we do today.

I remember growing up that people were nicer or at least it seemed that way.  People would:

  • Wait for you to cross the street at a crosswalk
  • Let you in as long as it did not interfere with traffic flow or let you cross the street as long as it did not interfere with traffic
  • Slow up when a car was merging
  • Stop at stop signs or red lights
  • Slow down and stop when it was yellow
  • Wait for you to get through the light before they turned
  • Go the speed limit
  • Get out of your way if they were not going the speed limit and you were
  • Be courteous to one another
  • Help others out when they could
  • Take responsibility for their actions

The list could go on and on.  Now it seems as most people to me are concerned with themselves and who cares about the next person and are in a super big rush to get nowhere fast.  If it feels right to me, then it is right even if it is wrong.  Furthermore, our society cannot tell a person they are wrong any more as the seems not to be politically correct.  What?

I titled this thing as “Slow Down” and that is what I am trying to get across.  People really need to “Slow Down” and think before they act.  It just seems like a lot of people act first and if something happens they want to then think.  Typically that thought is how can I get out of this and they want to refer to it as an accident.  That is not an accident when you intentionally do something that causes the other person to hit you.  That is negligence.  If there were more punishments for this type of behavior such as loss of license for 1 to 12 months and a hefty monetary penalty, maybe people would again start to think before they acted and in turn “Slow Down”.

Along with this, you also need to “Slow Down” to hear God.  People have to remember that God does not move at your speed, He moves at His.  If you are in such a rush and wondering if your prayers have been answered, then maybe it is time for you to “Slow Down”.  Remember, there are 3 potential answers to your prayer: Yes, No, and Not now/Wait.  So take some time and spend with God and yes that means no computers, books, TV, music, or anything else that could distract you.

I pray that you will “Slow Down” even if you are a nonbeliever.  By slowing down, you will make better decisions, be able to see the world around you and what is happening, help you self in many different ways such as health, but more importantly you might hear from God about your prayers.

May God bless you.
