I find it funny that we are so upset by the violence that is happening in America these days. When I was in France back in the Eighty’s, violent movies were considered R at a minimum while in America they were PG-13 and up. The French would show nudity and soft porn on TV and/or allow the teens to go see the movies. While we considered anything to do with nudity as R and up. I am not saying the French were perfect, but the act of showing two people in love has to be better for us compared to showing a bunch of people getting killed.
The reason I find it so funny as in ironic funny is that I remember Sean Payton, the coach of the New Orleans Saints saying he hates guns and that the death of the former Saints player was senseless. That is true it was senseless, but he like so many others promote violent acts in America. What do you think most of the sports are?
Take a look at these sports and tell me is they are violent or have some violent action:
- Football
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Hockey
- Lacrosse
- Golf
- Soccer
- Boxing
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- MMA
The answer is they are all violent in some way. Now take a look at the video games. Most of them are violent
- MMORPGs like WOW
- Grand Theft Auto
- Assassin’s Creed
- Doom
- Diablo
Then we have the TV shows and movies which are violent from the afternoon with kids programs all the way up until most of us go to bed. But do the parents tell their children no you cannot play that sport or video game or watch the tv? No because the kids would throw temper tantrums and the parents would give in.
Then you have the culture that cannot not be told no or that they did something wrong. What are we raising by not telling our kids no or that was wrong? Their little fragile egos as everyone wants to think they have will recover and grow to be stronger for it.
Then we have the bullies that pick on the ones they think are weaker and when the weaker ones have had enough and knock the crap out of the bullies, we get mad at the weaker ones for defending themselves. We treat the bullies as victims and the bullied as criminals. It is no wonder out society is screwed up.
Then you have the rich who can do no wrong. As long as there is money or friends in high places, all they are teaching their children is that do not have to take responsibility for their actions because mommy or daddy will get them out of trouble. This creates children who ultimately behave in a manner that everyone else would consider unacceptable.
Finally the government, they are all based on violent acts. They try to stop nudity from being shown on TV, but hey a guy getting his head cut off, that is ok. Lets stop the violent acts and only allow the adults to view these types of acts and lets show more stuff that demonstrates love. Then you have the Senate, House of Representatives, and the President. The only thing these different parts of the government know is how to act in violent ways. It may not be through physical violence, but emotional. They do not work together to resolve differences, but decide that the other is wrong and then go on to the media to demonstrate such behavior.
Is it any wonder we are a violent culture that does not know how to solve our differences through conflict resolution, but only with violence. We live in a violent culture that has made us insensitive to the acts of violence and the damage it can cause. Unless things change and we start turning back towards God and follow His ways versus those of Satan, we are doomed as a culture.
For those who say that God was violent, I say he did what was necessary to protect those He decided were His chosen people and that is His choice since He created each of us. But His chosen people did not listen and ultimately caused them problems and banishment from their homeland. However, if you look at what the Lord stands for, it is love and mercy. Lets show some towards our fellow man.
