Believing in God

Believing in something you cannot see is called faith.  Scientists believe in the laws of physics, but we cannot see them. Engineers believe in the laws of Thermodynamics, but again we cannot see them.  What they observe is the effect these of these laws.

Others believe in evolution which they can never observe.  Evolution is defined as: A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.  Evolutionist will claim that natural selection and adaptation are all part of evolution, but that is not changing one thing into something else, that is bringing out something that already existed within the genetic code.  Why is this accepted as fact?  It was proposed as a way for man to explain how we and everything else came into existence.  If God does not exist, then we can really do what we want without afterlife consequences, but of course we will have potential consequences while we are alive.

Why not believe there is a God?  I would think it is easier to believe there is a God and live according to how He wants, but that is not the case.  While He is ultimately in charge, He has given control of Earth temporarily to Satan:

2 Corinthians 4:1-6 New International Version (NIV)

Present Weakness and Resurrection Life

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

Satan is spreading his lies and will continue to do so until the end and it is up to us to accept or reject them. So why do so many believe these lies?  Lets be honest for some of us it is what we are already thinking/believing or it is easier to believe the lie than to accept the truth. Who the heck wants to be called and admit they are a sinner?  Wouldn’t it be easier just to say there is no God, and if there is no God, then I cannot commit a sin?   Then since I have not sinned, I can then base my decisions on what is right by man and pay mans penalties when I go against them, which are far easier to pay than God’s. Furthermore, man’s expectations of what is right and wrong continue to change and if I can get enough people to accept this change, then what I did is no longer wrong.

Now God on the other hand has not and will not change, but expects us to change.  Lets face it, we do not want to change for the most part.  We want God to accept us as we are with our sins.  We hold on to these sins as though they are our security blanket, not realizing these sins are actually an anchor that is weighing us down and keeping us not only from God, but fulfilling God’s desire for us.

Of course the first thing that people have to do is realize that they have sinned and confess those sins.   This alone is probably one of the hardest things that man has to do because with this, we will acknowledge that we went against God.  For some we may realize that we did something wrong, but do not feel like we should be forgiven and are punishing ourselves.  This too goes against what God has directed.

1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Where are you in your life? Have you tried mans way and it is not working? In other words, you feel guilty, lonely, unloved, hated, no idea what to so or where to go, or you have just about hit rock bottom? Maybe it is time to have some faith and ask Jesus to help you and admit that you sinned to God.
