Acting like children

There are somethings as an adult that we cannot act like children such as taking responsibility for our actions, making a living to support ourselves and our families, paying our bills.  I am not saying that children do not take responsibility for their actions, but is us the adults who need to teach them that is the right way.  However, there are so many things we can learn from children.

One of them is love, children love unconditionally.  Almost no matter what you do, a child will love their parents and others. I am not saying go out and test this and beat your child, but as a parent I know I have made a lot of mistakes in raising my children yet they still seem to love me

Children do not know prejudice until we as adults teach them.  I remember my daughter did not know the different between a black or white person until she went to school where she was taught about slavery and then misunderstood the concept because she was in freaking kindergarten and did not have the same understanding as someone who was older.  We quickly corrected her and I think she was ok from that point forward, but ugh!

Children will do whatever they can to please another person unless again they are taught differently by adults.  Ask a child to do something or show them how and see how enthusiastic they are to not only learn, but to get in there with you to do the task.

Children are eager to learn.  You have to show a child what to do, but they will gladly take on the task and want to learn.

Matthew 18:2-4 New International Version (NIV)

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Why did Christ say this? My best understanding is that children are trustworthy and will accept what an adult tells them.  We are children of God, but at the same time we are adults.  Therefore, we have had a lot more experiences in our lives that can taint how we see people and the world.  However, Christ is telling us that we need to trust Him and God and that what they are telling us through scripture is not to prevent us from living, but to save our lives and to help us to enter the kingdom of Heave to be with them forever.

I pray that you can understand what Christ is saying in the above verse and become like children in some respects.  If you need help, ask God.  If you do not ask, then why would He help as this is one of the things we need to trust Him with, our prayers.
