Anger

I have been reading devotionals on anger Charles Stanley because I realize that one of my issues is anger.  I have to say if you get a chance, I highly recommend you take the time to go through all of those devotionals.  It is important because this time of the year seems to bring out the worst in people.

Yes I know that is being cynical, but it is true. That does not mean I should let it affect me, but I do.

Today, as I was heading to the apartment, I got honked at, yelled at, and flipped off by a young punk.  This put me into a bad/angry mood and I was ready to settle it through violent means if necessary.

The road layout where I am staying is weird.  There are two lanes, then there is a third lane on the right that comes off the highway that ends just beyond the light.  I need to get into that right lane to turn at the light to go to my apartment.

I put on my turn signal, there was about a two-car gap so I merged into the right lane, but the car ahead of me stopped so I stopped.   The car that was behind me starts blowing his horn and then pulls beside me where there was no lane and starts to yell.  The windows are up so I have no idea what he is saying.

He speeds ahead of me and I gesture to him to turn since my signal was on.  We were going to settle this like they use to, with our fists.  I watched him speed up and just cut in front of someone else without a signal as I turned.   Amazing!

This is the time of year when people are supposed to be a little bit kinder, more friendly, more courteous, more hospitable.  I find that to be the exact opposite.

My wife says it is because people are so stressed out about Christmas.  If that is the case, then people are going the wrong way with celebrating Christmas.  It should be the most wonderful time of the year, not the most dreaded time.

It is time that people evaluate their understanding of the Christmas spirit.
