I like so many others want something from God, but when God asks us for something we balk. There are a number of reasons why we decide that we cannot do what God has asked, but none of them are worth anything.
This brings me to cheating. Why do we cheat? We act like know one will know if we cheat and that may be true, but God sees everything.
Cheating can be on:
- Spouse
- Girlfriend
- Taxes
- Diet
- Anything
I am mostly referring to ones diet or weight-loss program. I am overweight, but have lost roughly 25 to 30 pounds. I should be further along, but I know I cheat.
I am using myfitnesspal to document all the food I am eating and some how I think that if I do not document some of the food then it does not count. Unfortunately, that is not true and I am sure that if I am not careful, all the weight I did lose will come back.
It is these little things that God is talking about. I like the story of the talents as it is applicable to so many things.
When we are faithful in the little things, then God will give us more. Most people do not think that little things matter, but that is not true. While the big things matter, it is the little things that truly identify who we are. If we cheat on the little things, then we will most definitely cheat on the bigger things. So the next time you are considering cheating on something you think is insignificant, remember that nothing is so small to God as to not matter.
Does this change your perspective on cheating? If not, it should, but hey this is why God gave us free-will.
