I have been told that I am wrong about Christmas in that it is a time when we are supposed to be kind and generous to each other. My reply is simply, you are wrong.
Christmas is a time when we celebrate Christs birthday. As part of that celebration we give gifts to others to show how much we care. However, that is not all there is to the celebration we drink too much, we eat too much, we are somewhat selfish in our expectations and we think that by acting nice for 30 seconds that everything else we do is acceptable.
I further add it up with this. You need a special time of the year to show others that you love them, that you are kind to them, that you are generous, etc. I say you should be showing that all the time and by acting this way one time a year is not really demonstrating this.
You want to make a difference in a persons life this year, then give a gift that will mean something. Introduce them to Christ. Show them Christ’s love and what He has done for you. That is a gift that they can have everyday of their lives and that will never go away unless they decide to get rid of it.
I pray that God will enter you heart to soften it so you will be more generous even to those that you almost hate. I further pray that you will demonstrate Christ’s love to a person who does not know Christ to show them that Christians are Christ like. Like always, I never said that was easy. If you find this difficult, then pray for yourself for God to show you the way. I further pray that your relationship with both Christ and God grows stronger.
May God bless you.
