Easter

I know it is a few days past Easter, but like Christmas, we seem to have forgotten what Easter is all about.  It is not about the Easter Bunny delivering candy and presents.  Although I have no problem with it, this should not be the primary focus.

Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  As long as this is kept in mind, then fine.  However, I think that the Easter Bunny was developed as a way to redirect the importance of this day.

Christ was born human to feel as we feel and to experience the temptations as we are tempted.  Ultimately, He was born as the sacrificial lamb for our sins.  However, He was much more than that.

He was and is a great priest and teacher.  He instructs us on how to live not only within our own flesh, but spiritually.  He has told us what we must do to have eternal life with His Father in Heaven.  The concepts that He presented are actually very simple, but the implementation and sustainability of those concepts is where it all falls apart.

We are not Christ and are more susceptible to being tempted by Satan.  I believe that both Christ and God understand this and while they want perfection, for us to commit no sin, they realize that because of the original sin committed by Adam, that is not 100% possible.  So through Christ we can obtain salvation.

This does not mean that you can claim to have accepted and believe in Christ and continue to commit the same sin over and over.  It also does not mean that you have to be perfect.  What it does mean is that you take your sin and give it to Christ since He has already paid the price.  You just have to be willing to repent.   Until you are ready to give up that sin which you know goes against God’s will, peace, abundant life, and salvation will always be out of reach.
