God while being very complex to the point that we cannot fully understand is also simple in His approach. He has made it simple for us, not because we cannot understand certain complexities, but because the simplest things will end up confusing those that think they are smart or wise.
The simplest thing is that God is love, but what does that mean? God gives. He gave His Son to die for our sins. He gave us life, He has give us opportunity to change our path, He has given us a away to be saved, He gives us wisdom, He gives and gives and all that He wants is for us to become His sons and daughters.
What do we do? We take and take and expect more because we are not satisfied with what God has given.
God has described what love is in
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
This is one of my favorite versus of scripture.
Read the passage until it both sinks in and you understand what it means. Then ask yourself one question and that is are you displaying this kind of love?
I pray that if you are having difficulty with God and how he expresses His love for us, then I urge you to pray and ready those passage in the Bible that show how God loves us. Do not try to understand, but simply accept that God is love and the way He acts is in love.
Lord, thank you for loving us even when we really do seem to deserve it. Thank you for giving us Your Son to die for our (my) sins. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to repent and do what is right in Your eyes.
