Just let go.
What does that actually mean? All to often, we want to let things go until we feel we are not in control.
I read a devotion today where the pastor of a church asked the members in their meeting to pray and just let go of control. They all agreed they wanted too, but the unknown and potential discomfort prevented them from doing so. They trusted God, but fear reigned supreme.
Do you have a problem sleeping at night time? Do you lie awake thinking about things? Are you anxious/worried about your next meal, paying bills, finding a loved one, having kids, having friends, your family, etc…? Have you ever considered letting everything go to God and relying upon Him unconditionally?
I know my wife loves Jesus, but there are times where she has a difficult time sleeping and will just lie there wide awake thinking about things. I’ve often asked her why and that is because within about 30 seconds of hitting the pillow unless I am watching TV, I am asleep. It is really hard for me to grasp this concept of not being able to go to sleep.
Here are a few verses about letting go:
Ephesians 4:31-32 English Standard Version (ESV)
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Philippians 3:13-14 English Standard Version (ESV)
13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:7 English Standard Version (ESV)
7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Philippians 4:6 English Standard Version (ESV)
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Will you let go and allow God to handle everything? Will you trust Him with your life?
If you struggle with this concept, then go to Him in prayer and ask Him for help.
