I was watching Forrest Gump tonight and it got me thinking. Here was a man that lived life the way it was supposed to be lived. He believed in something and went for it. When he said something, he kept his word. He loved unconditionally, especially Jenny, and while he wanted the girl to love him back and she did not, he never hated her. He missed her when she left, but even later on in their lives he was anxious to see her. He never really expected a lot out of people and always tried to help. Think of Lieutenant Dan, he would not let him give up and in the end Lieutenant Dan thanked him for saving his life. He took people literally, in other words he did not know about lying or at least it appears in the movie as though he never lied. Yet he was a man that did not have great intelligence, supposedly, but seemed to always do the right thing and be in the right place. He was an honorable man. What a wonderful world it would be if people actually live the way Forrest Gump lived.
Now think of Christ. He was God that was born as man to understand how man lived and to serve and save mankind. He loved unconditionally and if you did not love Him back it did not matter. He expected you to do the right thing. He is the truth, the life, and the way. He believed in what He was doing even though He asked for it to be taken from Him but did what God wanted anyway. He paid the ultimate sacrifice in the end so you could be saved and live eternally with God.
How much easier could it be for you to obtain salvation? God did not say figure it out and I will let you know if you got it right, but sent Christ to live by the example we are supposed to live and provided a way for us to live eternally with Him though His Son. Yet most of the time people will reject this because it does not meet what they expect or want. How sad!
