What does this mean?
According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, hope means:
- desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment
- to cherish a desire with anticipation : to want something to happen or be true
- to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment
So Love always cherishes a desire with anticipation : to want something to happen or be true or desires with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment.
Another way of looking at this is the love always wants it to be true or love always wants the expectation of fulfillment.
The problem is we lose faith. We do not expect a fulfillment of God’s word/promises. We are not sure what is true.
We have a tendency to believe the lies that Satan spits out and this contradicts God. So we end up not knowing what is true and then we lose faith.
What we fail to realize is that we have the word of God to guide us and it will let us know what the truth actually is, but we must take the time to study to understand.
