From 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, love always protects. So what does this mean?
From Dictionary.com, protect means: to defend or guard from attack, invasion, loss, annoyance, insult ect; cover or shield from injury or danger.
Love always defends or guards from attack, invasion, loss, annoyance, insult ect and it covers or shields from injury or danger.
In other words, when you express love, you are willing an able to do what it takes to ensure the safety of others. This may include you giving your up your life.
Think of it this way, Christ not only died for ours sins so we have a chance at salvation, but He also died to protect us.
Do you defend/guard/cover/shield those you love and by the way that means everyone not just your immediate family? It can be difficult to protect those you do not get along with or do not even like, but that is what we are supposed to do.
Ask God to show you where your heart is and then ask Him to help you fix it.
