When a man and woman marry, they become one flesh.
Mark 10:5-10 New International Version (NIV)
5 “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
While this is true, what happens when there are kids involved.
Kids change everything. Both parents will defend their families, but it is how they defend that I think is a bit different. It is my opinion in this area, woman are far stronger than any man.
A man will kill if necessary to protect his family, but at the same time, I think a man will break much quicker if his family is threatened. However, a woman will kill and die if necessary to protect her children.
There is a special bond between a woman and her children. Lets face it, a woman carries a child for roughly 9 months. When the child is born, it will typically see the mother first. The mother will provide nourishment and nurturing for her child. A man can help later on as a child starts to develop and a child will love their dad, but not in the same way as a child loves their mother.
There are many great mothers in the Bible:
- Eve
- Sarah
- Rebekah
- Bathsheba
- Jochbed
- Mary
All of these demonstrate that a mother love is fierce and stubborn. They may have done things that were wrong sometime, but they did so for the right reasons.
Say a prayer for all moms and give a special thanks that God has included these women as examples.
