Privilege

Privilege means that you or your group have a special right, advantage, or immunity beyond what most have.

I saw a video on YouTube the other day by Buddy Brown about privilege and I have to say I agree. I was however shocked to see so my thumbs down, but after I thought about, it was not that surprising. I am sure those that gave a thumbs down got smacked by the video information.

There was one comment I was a bit surprised at and that was some telling Buddy Brown that he is privileged. I guess when he said about hard-work, or taking advantage of the opportunities that were given to you, or using your talents to in a way that helps you achieve success are all privilege. I guess every person that has achieved anything in life is just privilege these days.

People act like those that live in the country have more privilege than those living in the cities and that is just not the case. In fact it is just about the opposite. Most families that live in the cities want their kids to be more successful than they were and want them to do well in school, to go to college, and to take advantage of the opportunities that life presents to them. A lot of the people raised in the country end up quitting school to help support the family or to help run the family business. They do not care about you finishing school or going to college, etc. Of course as with all things, this is not 100% true.

I am however, sick an tired of people saying you have privilege just because you are white. Get over yourself because that is a lie that has been put out by a few and the media has taken this concept and made it worse.

It does not matter what color your skin is, if you were born in America, you have the same privilege as any other person, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is up to you to do what you can with the opportunities that are presented to you. If you decide that you are owed something just because, then you will be disappointed. If you decide that you are owed nothing and will try to use the opportunities that are presented to you to make a life for yourself and those around you, then you will be much better off.

Take the early Christians, if they thought they were owed something because they followed Christ and were His disciples, then Christianity would have died right there. Instead, these people saw the bigger picture and new what they had to do and they did it even thought it may have cost them their freedom or life. These early Christians were not always so eager because there were many times where they basically whined to Christ about how they were going to do what He wanted with such limited supplies.

So instead of hating your fellow man for what he has and you do not, be happy for them and be content with what you have. Use what you have to bring glory to God and stop worrying about the rich man down the street. Pray for those that may seem rich in your eyes, because they may not be happy or joyful. I have found more content people who are poor compared to those that are rich.
