Racist

It seems live everything today is racist. What do I mean? Lets take a look at what is being called racist today:

  • Math
  • Being born white
  • Not liking a person
  • English
  • Science
  • Not agreeing with someones culture
  • Not liking something from another culture
  • Disease and Viruses

Here is the issue, if everything is racist, then nothing is racist.

We need to look at the word really means

Racist (taken from OxfordLanguages):

  • prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
  • a person who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

In animate things like math, science, languages, etc., cannot be racist, only people can be racist. Not liking something from a culture or agreeing with that culture does not make the person racist. Being born white does not make you racist. Not liking a person does not make you racist. For a person to be racist, they must have a prejudice or be antagonistic towards a person or people because of their race.

There is one political group that is racist and I will let you figure it out based on their comments. This group acts like they care, but all they do is treat certain groups like they are stupid and incompetent.

Just so we are clear, we can all be racist at times. Take a black man walking down the street in a predominantly white neighborhood. This man has tattoos, scars, dreadlocks, and looks very rough/scary. Any white person seeing this individual may have some initial thoughts about this person is there to commit a crime. Why? fear. Now take the same person, but make them white in a predominantly black neighborhood and the exact same thing will happen. Any black person seeing this white scary, rough looking tattooed, scarred, long haired man would wonder if they are in the neighborhood to commit a crime. Again, why? fear.

People are portrayed a certain way in the media and entertainment industry that feed upon our fears and once those fears are ingrained, then when we see someone like that we become afraid. We may have had some bad experiences with person of a different color. Some are elitist and think that all people of a certain color are evil/bad. This is what Satan wants, because when we are divide, he wins.

Thankfully, there is one that has not and never will be racist. This individual saw people as needing to be saved. If you have not figured it out yet, this person is Jesus. Before you go saying He is some white dude because that is what you see in the pictures, you may want to rethink that considering where he was born and raised. In all likelihood, Jesus was probably brown or olive skin, in other words he was dark skinned.

Also, in the Bible, it clearly mentions being racist as well as bunch of other things. Before you go saying there is no mention or being racist in the Bible, I have read it cover to cover X number of times, then you clearly missed it. Here are the verses:

Mark 12:30-31 English Standard Version

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Luke 6:31 English Standard Version

31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

We are told to love our neighbors, which is everyone we meet, and we are told to treat others as we want to be treated.

If we as a society would learn to live by these two principles alone, the rest would just go away. So that is my challenge to you that read this and it is a challenge to myself as well. Learn to live by these two principles even if you think the other person does not deserve it. This will be difficult at times when other people are treating you like crap, but God did not say treat others they way you want to be treated as long as they are returning the favor. Instead He just said treat others the way you want to be treated.
