Salvation Part 2

I mentioned before that Salvation is easy and it is.  Most other religions ask you to sacrifice yourself for your god.  So you get one chance to do it right or it is all over.  It is no wonder that when people do the things for their god that it ends up hurting or killing a lot of people. With God you do not only get once chance, remember he is slow to anger and will not forsake you.

When I said Salvation was easy, it is, but it too does require a sacrifice.  You must be willing to live for Christ since he has already paid the ultimate sacrifice with his life and died for you.  When you become saved as a Christian your life will change.

Remember God will save you through Christ, but he will not save you and your sin.  So the sacrifice is that you are willing to give up your sin.  That sounds easy, but it is very hard. You first must acknowledge that you have sinned and that you need Salvation and then embrace it.

Salvation requires you to confess with your mouth and believe before God that you have sinned.  You believe that Christ is Lord which means he has full authority over you.  Believe that Christ was raised from the dead.  For it is the believing in your heart that you are made right with God and confessing with your mouth that you have sinned and Christ is Lord that you are saved.

So how hard does that really sound?  Not too difficult, but then why do so many people have a had time with this concept?   They believe it really cannot be that easy, they feel that they must have everything right with God before they can ask for salvation, they feel like they can never be forgiven for their actions, they want to justify their actions by not believing that Christ died for them, etc.  Whatever ever your reason is, trust that God will save you if you ask and believe Christ is Lord. You can use the following or make up your own:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

However, be ready for you life to change.

Acts 2:38 New International Version (NIV)

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I pray those that read this and are not saved will become so.  If you received Christ today then you must follow up on your commitment:

  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day and ask Him to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • As a young Christian you will need to find a local church where you can worship God and to seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus.
