Socialism

I know it has been a while since I posted, but real life took over.

I also know that I have talked about socialism in the past, but thought it worth another post.

Not sure you heard but Purdue Pharma is going to basically operated and controlled by the government. If this is not stopped, then that is the first step towards a socialist country.

Socialism is any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. This definition was taken from Merriam-Webster online.

Socialism in theory sounds great, but it usually means that we are all slaves working for the government. Look at these countries and tell me if you really want to live there

  • China
  • North Korea
  • Venezuela
  • North Vietnam

Before you go and say, but Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland are socialist countries, they are not. They may have some socialist programs, there is no argument there, but go back to the definition of socialism.

These countries have more property rights than Americans, there is no minimum wage in most of these countries as they work out with the employers what a particular job is worth, and they are a free market society.

I have heard people say there are different forms of socialism and that is just false. These are made up terms to manipulate. Your country is either socialist or capitalist. Capitalist countries can have some socialist ideas, but every country that has tried socialism has failed. When you give people something for nothing, then they stop producing.

In fact, Israel, United Kingdom, and India all tried a socialist economy and it failed. Why? Socialism leads to less work production, less innovation, less of everything. In fact socialism creates two economic classes the poor and the very rich as opposed to a capitalist society which creates 9 different economic classes.

It sucks to be poor, I have been there. We were on WIC, Food Stamps, and whatever else the government would give us. We were very grateful for the help we got, but our goals were not to be dependent upon the government or anyone else to live our life.

The problem is that people do not want to budget their money and spend it only on the essentials. They want the best internet service, cell phone and service, the best cars, the best clothes, the best house, etc. Then they have the audacity to come and ask for money and if you ask them to sit down and go through their budget they take it as an infringement upon their rights. If you are asking me to pay for your rent, then I want to see where the rest of your money is going. If it is going towards a car with a high loan repayment, then sell the car and get one that is cheaper. Go to a cheaper internet or get rid of it all together. Get rid of the cell phone and the cell phone service or go to a cheaper one. If you are eating out everyday, then stop and cook at home. Cut out all of those things that are luxuries in life and spend your money on the essentials such as food and shelter.

Like I said the idea of distribution of wealth and equality for all sounds great, but it never works. In fact a professor tried this type of study with grades to see what would happen and all the students had to agree. In the end they all failed because the people who worked hard gave up and those that did not work got even worse. It was so bad that there were constant arguments because the ones who never did not work demanded that the hard workers keep working hard to keep the grade average high.

Now unless threatened with your life or the life of loved ones, there is little to no innovation coming out of the above mentioned countries. Why? There is no incentive. There is no reward for the hard work you have put in.

Bernie Sanders wanted to make it law that employees got stocks and that they sit on the board of administrators. If I were a business and these laws went into effect, I would shut my doors the next day. Employees take zero risk at a company. They are compensated by their agreement to do a certain job for a certain salary or hourly wage. Somehow people have it in their head that they are taking a risk by working for this company. That is not a risk.

An owner on the other hand takes a huge risk. They are the ones who put up the capital which may include their pensions, house, personal loans, car, or other assets. If the business fails as typically 20% do within the first two years and up to 65% within 10 years, it is not the employee that is held accountable for repayment, but the owner.

The employee may be out of a job, but that is not a risk. In fact an employee can leave whenever he wants. It is a little harder for an owner to leave his own company whenever he wants without some kind of backlash.

Now if you still think socialism is the way to go, then by all means keep voting Democrat and we will be there in no time. But expect almost every business to come to a screeching halt if not closure. Watch the innovation that Americans are known for stop. Watch our economy collapse around us. Finally, be ready to be enslaved by those that think they know better than you.
