Recently a football player was gunned down due to road rage incident. I believe in stand your ground, but at the same time it is not ok to chase someone to shoot them. I do not know the entire story of McKnight’s death, but if he approached the other persons car, then is the person in the car to know the intention of the one approaching? The answer is no. Does Gasser have to wait for McKnight to hit him or something else worse before he can react? In my opinion the answer is no. If you have to wait, then the chances are it is already too late. It is very unfortunate that this happened, but both are to blame.
A lot of people are upset and they have a right to be, but let the police do their jobs to determine what should be done. My guess is that Gasser will be charged, but probably not with murder. I fully expect that if this happens for there to be riots in New Orleans as there are already protesters gathering.
People get very upset with those that experience road rage and want to condemn them. We expect people who experience road rage to instantly get over it. but that just does not happen. The reality is that this type of rage is sparked by fear. Usually it is fear for a persons life, but there are other fears that could spark this type of rage. In my case it is fear that my loved ones who are in the vehicle with me might get hurt. I have not shot anyone due to road rage, but I know there were a few times were if it had come down to it, I probably would have seriously hurt or killed the person in the other car.
So if you all preach tolerance, then why when something happens that you do no like or agree with are you so intolerant and ready to send the person the gallows? Because people that preach tolerance are not as tolerant as they want everyone around them to think.
So how does this relate to Christianity? Christianity is losing ground because we, Christians, have become to complaisant with the world around us. In other words, we have become part of the world which God told us not to do.
Romans 12:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We as Christians need to Stand Our Ground and not conform to the world around us.
