The Country Club

Yes I voted for Trump, but the more I watch him, the more I have to wonder.  There were certain things I knew he would do, but I never imagined he would turn our White House into a Country Club for his rich elite friends.

Mr Trump, please use the brains that God gave you to put people into these positions that actually might have a clue as to what they are supposed to do and not your buddies.  Running this country is serious.  If you really do not care about being President, then please step down now and let someone else take over.  Unless your plan is to act so crazy that those who sort of know the 12th Amendment will enact it and appoint whom they want as President.

When I was in High School, I loved learning about the Constitution and how the voting worked, but I must admit I completely forgot how it all worked.  I just read the 12th Amendment and I have to say what is the purpose of us even voting.  If the Electors do not like the peoples decision, in a lot of the states they can vote for whom they like.  In some they are required by law to vote the way the people wanted. To me this automatically violates the Constitution giving to much power to the political parties to chose what President they want.

Who chooses these Electors? Well we do.  We choose the Electors on the day we vote.  However, the Electors are chosen by each party to represent the state.  The vote you cast on General Election Day is to select the Electors.  However, in some states the Electors do not have to vote the way we want.  For example, Republican Electors could vote for the Democrat that was running for President.  In this case Hillary Clinton could actually win.  They could also vote to elect someone completely different.  This does not happen often, but it does happen.

Each state has a certain number of Electors.  For example, Maryland has 10 Electors.  Since Maryland was Democrat in the 2016 election, there will be 10 Democratic Electors who will vote for President.  They could all vote for Hillary Clinton, or they could vote for another person unless there is a law that states that since Hillary Clinton was the Democratic Presidential candidate, they must vote for her. In some states the number of Electors can be split between the parties based on percentage of votes received.

To me the biggest issue regarding Electors is the statements made by Hamilton.  One of which was to avoid having a person as President who was essentially not qualified.  The problem with that is who decides who is qualified?  If the Electors do not like a Presidential candidate, they can vote for whom they like.  Read Federalist No. 68.

Whatever the outcome, pray that the Electors will make the right choice and lead our country towards God instead of away from.
