Christ said He was the truth, but what does that mean?
If you take it to be a literal translation, then Jesus is the truth. He is God and His word is the end all be all.
I am sure there are many interpretations on what this means, but in Jesus’ day, there was the law which was supposed to be how people live. Jesus came and fulfilled the law. Jesus also told the people how to live and how to get into Heaven.
When Jesus said He was the truth and told us how to live, He then expected us to do so if we love Him. However, we want to listen to the great deceiver who is the father of lies because we do want to change the way we live.
We want to accept the lies because we think it will make our lives more fulfilling and fun, but we also want to be saved. However, God has already told us this cannot happen. We must make a choice to accept the truth which is accepting Christ or not.
Part of the truth is accepting that we are sinners in need of forgiveness. This leads us to repent, but people do not want to change. They may or may not admit they are sinners, but one thing is true, they want to hold onto their sin because it is familiar.
Will you accept the truth? Will you acknowledge that you are being lied too and the only to God is through Christ? This is the start of repentance.
