It has been 10 days since my last post. How time flies when you are spending time with the ones you love. For basically the last two weeks, I have been traveling with the wife. It was different, but good.
So it made me think about the following verse:
Matthew 10:37-39 New International Version (NIV)
37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
I love my wife and there isn’t anything I would not do for her, but should have I posted more while we were together on our trip? The answer is yes. I should have put time aside for God as much as I put time aside for her.
Who should be number one in your life, God or your family? The answer is God.
Proverbs 3:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Exodus 20:3 New International Version (NIV)
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
Matthew 6:24 New International Version (NIV)
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 22:37-38 New International Version (NIV)
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
I know it sounds crazy, but by putting God first you will actually be caring for your family more than if you put them first.
Ask yourself who or what is the most important thing in your life? If the answer is not God, then ask yourself are yourself why is this person or thing more important?
Is there anything that you could not live without? The answer should be yes and it had better be God.
