I will bet most of you at times just want to take out the evil people in the world. I know I have felt that way from time to time. However, that is not what God wants.
Jesus has instructed us to love our enemies:
Matthew 5:43-48 New International Version (NIV)
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
God has also said that vengeance is his:
Romans 12:17-19 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
While you may feel like I do that evil people need to be taken out, what does that make us ion the eyes of the Lord? It makes us a sinner for sure since God has already told us how to handle people.
This is not to be confused with self-defense. God does not say just let them kill you, but He also does not say you can go out and kill them. So it depends on the motive for self-defense and only you and God will truly know what happened. So before you take a person life, you really need to think about why?
I realize some of you may think that I am on the edge, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. Sometimes, people need to express themselves and get those frustrations out. When we keep those feelings inside, that is when we have problems. I brought this up, because there is a person that I have no connection with that is in my opinion evil. While my first instinct is to crush and destroy, as a Christian that goes against God. So instead of wishing for their demise, I will instead pray for that person.
